I have a five month old baby that I am still breasfeeding. I found out last week I was preg again but had a miscarriage three days later. Is it ok to still breastfeed? Are there issue with hormone surges that might effect my baby?

Yes, it is perfectly safe to continue nursing your baby. Many mothers nurse through a pregnancy, and then tandem nurse both babies. Your baby won't be harmed by any hormonal changes.

It is very unlikely that nursing contributed to the miscarriage. Nipple stimulation can sometimes bring on contractions at the very end of a pregnancy, but not during the earlier stages.

So sorry to hear about your loss. Be patient & understanding with yourself as you heal.

From what I understand, the breastfeeding may help your uterus to repair & be stronger, too.

Yes it is safe but sad to say, the breastfeeding may have triggered the miscarriage. My last two babies are exactly this age. I was nursing fulltime a 5month old when I got pregnant with my last child.
There are two thumbs down for my answer but I can tell you that breastfeeding triggers contractions. Just ask your doctor.

No, it will be perfectly fine. It is your own feelings that I would be concerned with.

Yes. It's very safe. Please continue breastfeeding. It's good for you. Good for your baby.
