school is a part of the government, and the government is suppossed to be independent from religion. 'separation of church and state'

does this make it not lame? i dont think so :(

Christmas was first celebrated as the birth of Jesus Christ. This is technically a religious holiday and since school and religion are supposed to be kept seperate, they try to stay away from saying merry christmas.

Because politcal correctness has run amuck. If we are referring to schools within USA, we would do well to remember that this country was founded on Christian principles. I have no problem with wishing a happy Chanukkah also. A democracy best serves the majority and should not consider catering to the few who disagree.

Probably so the Jewish Religion wont feel left out. They go to school too.

because they don't wan to offend anyone who doesn't celebrate Christmas. does it bother you as much as it does me? I'm in high school and out school is trying so hard to be PC that they wont even call it "Christmas caroling" they call it " holiday caroling"... how insane is that....
