The apparent diameter of the Moon is about half a degree.

The actual radius of the Moon is 1740 kilometers.

I say 1.9 km. One arc second is 1/3,600 of a degree and the Moon is about 400,000 km away. Tan(1/3,600)*400,000=1.9

Basically, that's a little less than a square mile on the moon's surface, on average.
