they put them in the correctional facility that their crime ranked them for then they make them get up when they say eat when they say you cant go to the bathroom without permission you have to race to your bunk 5 times a day from whatever labor they assign to you in order for them to take count of all the inmates and of coarse they tell you when you can bathe then enforce all to be in bed at certain time you are at their mercy with no rights and they have so many rules it makes it difficult not to get into trouble and trouble causes your time to grow longer not to mention the caliber of people surrounding you it is not plesant what they do to criminals now if they earned it they should be submitted to such but there are so many whos only crime was using drugs and it is the wrong place for them to be placed in my opinion if they had no other crimes and didnt cause any one harm

Depends on the crime, but we have local, state and Federal prisons for criminals. They go to jail and spend time based on the crime. Most states have the death penalty for convicted murders which means they could spend up to 15 years on court appeals before they are actually put to death. Our legal system is suppose to be the best in the world, but I sometimes wonder just how fair and partial it is.

There's a wide range of punishment. This is what I've seen as conditions on sentencing orders or what I've heard about:
diversion programs (i.e. theft)
fines
probation (unsupervised or supervised)
community service
work crew
evaluations: sex offender, drug/alcohol, psychological/psychiatric, domestic abuse
treatment: (see above)
counseling/therapy
jail
prison
electric home monitoring (the ankle bracelet thing)
death penalty
parole (after serving some time in prison)

A liberal judge will give the criminal a good talking to. If he repeats the crime, a longer good talking to. If he repeats again, make him go to counseling for weekly talking to's. If he keeps repeating, counseling twice a week. If the criminal steals the judges Jaguar, he gets the death penalty.
