Because we have created a culture that does not oppose violence. Abortion is violence like war, capital punishment, WMD, domestic violence. Abortion is the result of a sexist society.

If you read the law "Under the 1998 law, anyone who attacks a pregnant woman and injures or kills her fetus could face life in prison."
It says nothing about this being an abortion. It's not an anti-abortion bill. It has nothing to do with abortion. You can't even make a case for it being equivalent to abortion. It is about manipulation, co-option, coersion and poisoning of the woman with intentions of hurting her body. It says that if the perpetrator attacks the woman he will tried. An abortion doctor doesn't attack the woman or her body. He is conducting a medical proceedure with her consent and her knowledge.

Just out of curiosity, what makes you think abortion will end if it is made illegal? It won't. That's a reality and that's a fact. History has proven me right. If you want to end the number of abortions going on in the U.S then stop complaining about welfare recipients, adopt kids, pass out condems or birth control to teens who are already sexually active. Go beyond abstinence teaching because it is proven that it doesn't work. However, making abortion illegal will only hurt our society, hurt the women in our society, and will hurt the millions of unwanted children being born. We can do better.

If you actually have a daughter, would you respect her right to choose either way if she were faced with such a possibility? You may think you have a right to say what she has to do in face of such a choice, but ultimately it is her choice. If she chose abortion, would you support her in that choice and respect her choice?

It all comes down to the word "Liberty" in the Constitution and the Supreme Court upholding 150 years of case law.

I don't approve of abortion But I also think making it legal does not automatically mean everyone should rush out and buy one.

To those who whimper that the SCOTUS which wrote Roe v Wade was somehow liberal or activist, think again. I recommend that you check the reputations of the assorted justices who wrote opinions.

The court at that time was a mixture of several moderates, and a few liberal and conservative types. Oddly enough, Chief Justice Warren Burger, a noted conservative-oriented justice, sided with the majority.

The vote was 7-2, with only Rehnquist and White dissenting.

Here's a serious answer (not that I'm convinced you really want one).

Abortion is legal because

a) It happens whether or not it's legal, and
b) we have decided as a society that we would rather have safe access to the procedure for those women who choose not to give birth to those they have conceived than to have them slinking off to herbalists and butchers and foreign clinics to have abortions that could end up killing the unwilling mother as well.

The guy was charged with murder of the fetus because the mother apparently wanted to be pregnant and give birth to the baby.

It's her choice that determines whether or not she gives birth and whether charges will be filed.

Because women chose to have an abortion, this guy gave her no choice. Let me tell you, if you were to have a daughter (and all of you antiabortion nut jobs) and she were to get pregnant at a young age, specially by someone you think is undesirable ie african american hispanic which ever race your racist against, you would be the first one up at an abortion clinic

Ah yes here we go so far only men (besides me) answering this. Abortion has nothing to do with you. It is our body. I don't think I could ever do it but I can't tell someone else not to. I love it you people b*tch about women having abortions then you b*tch if they have the child and can't afford it and have to go on welfare. WTF. And of course the man leaves really giving the woman not much chance at all so I don't wanna hear you play you pay, because men sure don't have to. All you guys have to do in best cases is pay some measly amount of child support and continue your life like everything is fine while leaving the woman to raise the child on her own and in most cases on welfare. You can't have it all people.

Around 1973, an activist supreme court found the right to privacy in the constitution. Somehow, the framers failed to specifically outline such an intent.

Simple. The woman was denied her opportunity to choose whether she wanted the unborn child or not. The child was, in effect, poisoned in the womb. Get it?
