I have only one half of a one hundred dollar bill. The other half was destroyed. Is there any bank or financial institute that would exchange this bill?

You need at least 2/3 of a bill, or it is useless. This is to avoid people cashing in on double bills. Also, the cereal number on the side of the bill must be intact. If it's slightly more than half, worth a try at the bank. If it's exactly half or less, it is a no-go. They will not give half the value for half a bill.

I'm not sure but I think that you must have at least 1/2 of the bill in order for it to be used. I could be wrong, I would call your bank and see if they know.

Yes. I read that if you call a government institution (I can't remember if it was a mint or an actual agency that specializes in this department) then they'll ask you to send in your half and they'll give you a full one. But it has to be a little more than half. That way people can't send in two halves and get double their money.

Anyway, call a couple of government departments or a mint and see what you can come up with. I mean, it's 100 bucks!

Yes, you should be able to go to a National bank and get $50 for it if it is about half size and all $100 if it somewhat more than half. I don't recall the exact percentages you have to have to get the various payouts. Call first. This comes up on the news about burned money, etc.

Have you asked the question of a bank ? That is your first stop. If they can't give you an answer you may as well destroy the half you own.

No, you must have at least 3/4 of the bill.
