if you buy a verizon phone off ebay, u will be able to activate it, i had a new phone since my contract phone got wet and they swtiched all the contacts on it. or you can get a sprint, alltel or any service that uses CDMA or no sim cards and have it 'flashed' meaning unlocked but for the CDMA version. the gsm or sim card version is only availible for tmobile and att.

A phone the uses SIM cards won't work on Verizon's network. So, I'm assuming that the phone you are looking at is a non -SIM phone. It was just announced that Verizon is opening up its nework. I haven't seen the details. But it sounds like you might be able to get them to activate it IF the phone isn't locked by another carrier. Make sure the phone you buy is unlocked. Make sure you can get your money back if you get it and it turns out to be locked anyway. A lot of people sell phones they say are unlocked but the aren't.

Yes buy a verizon type phone and then logon to their site and swap the esn number and your set. once done you'll have to do an update by dialing *228 and then option 1. I do it all the time with no problem.

I think I would call Verizon first and ask. Know the cell phone model number you want. Heck, you call them up and they may get scared and sell you something better for cheaper.
