Look under steel-used in the Yellow Pages. Also look for appliances-used as there is a whole subculture buying and selling used appliances under $100. Fridges in particular are subject to very tight environmental controls. Cutting the freon lines and releasing the stuff is totally illegal.

Scrap metal dealers will take scrap metal in any shape or size. Depending on the recycler, you may need to separate the ferrous from the non-ferrous metals. Brass will get you more money than iron or steel. If it is mixed and hard to separate, take it all together in a box or pail and they will tell you the best way to handle it.

There are scrap metal places throughout the country. There may be several in N.J. since it is a densly populated area which would generate scrap metal. Best reference is the Yellow Pages for his area.

Absolutely. Junk yards will buy the metal for so much for the lb. They weigh your truck as you enter and leave the yard to determine the price. The metal is then broken down and trained to Steel mills to be used in the making of new steel.
