I have a large collection of stuff (700 cu. ft.) that's on standby, waiting to be shipped from Ohio to Alabama. Where can I leave a message for a freight company or indie trucker who can take this freight on to fill his trailer? I've left messages with forwarders and logistics companies but there are so damned many of them, and many of them only work locally or regionally.

The most likely place to find a trucker who will take your load would be a freight forwarding company. These companies perform the services of consolidating shipments. The same would apply to regular freight lines who have their own terminals where freight is consolidated for shipment to a certain area. Check your major freight lines and see if they accept less than carload amounts.
