I think he represents the idiots at the UN, the ones who want a World Government. It isn't petty, it's symbolic to pay tribute and hold in your heart the love you have for your country...that is where the hand over the heart thing comes from. Does it make him less Patriotic because he doesn't do these things - yes, they are small gestures of faith, love and loyalty; symbols. The problem is that people don't pay tribute anymore. They feel like they are entitled to everything just by being born here. We have to keep working to ensure the future generations of Americans have the freedoms we enjoy - to me and many, the lack of symbolic tribute is a sign that Obama and his ilk do not respect nor do they love this country.

I wouldn't venture a guess which nation he wants to represent but I can assure you the United States of America is not the one!

Mine. I have seen enough " patriotism " coming out of the 2 Bush Administrations to last me a life time.
Does an American flag lapel pin really matter?
Don't get too caught up in the symbolism of patriotic icons.
Appearances can be deceiving

One that the flag wavers that cry the loudest, don't seem to mind that the flags they wave or wear, are manufactured in a communist country.

Obama is not to be taken seriously no matter what hes wearing or not wearing. Hes a liberal party hack with no experience, no guts, and even LESS common sense.
Oprah should slap herself for supporting this piece of dog poo.

Given that plus his rhetoric about invading Pakistan, I would say he really represents India(?) :-))

He obviously represents the people before the flag that represents them.

Haven't you ever heard of conscientious objection?

Or have you only educated yourself on "liberals" by the ignorant rants of Yahoo users?

I don't mean to insult your stance for patriotism - only to enlighten you that the world is not black and white (or red white and blue).

I prefer that my candidate not go all flag-crazy like a weirdo in a walmart parking lot.
I prefer that they avoid the showiness and get down to business.
