or, you can prove..because this was the actual case, that FDR wanted to support the Brits before they fell to the Nazis and America was left alone
Most Americans weren't really interested in getting involved in another European war.

Rather than push for an outright alliance with England which probably wouldn't have happened, FDR "merely" asserted America's traditional right as a non-belligerent, to trade with both sides in the conflict. ( see: what got us into the War of 1812, what got us into WW1).

Since there was no way to trade with a Germany blockaded by the Royal Navy, we could trade with the Brits under the guise of 'neutrality'

" Nope, we're not helping the Brits; we're just selling to anyone who wants to buy and take it away.......what? The Germans cant buy from us cause they cant get shipping through....gee.......never thought of that........"
