i think the landing was faked. i have seen the evidence and both sides make good statements so based on pictures and all both sides are locked in a tie but my thing is if we went to the moon why have we not went back? they said the computer aboard the apollo was about the same technology used in todays calculator so if we went why have we not went back, especially since the technology is 50 times better since then. we keep putting up space shuttles to orbit the earth but for what? and last but not least in 2004 bush made a public speech in which he said we hope to go back to the moon in the next 17 years?huh if we have already been why wait so long? car makers improve on cars every year, plane builders and boat /yacht/super cargo ships also, even our space program we sent 4 rovers to mars and 2 were succesful and two failed but all reached their target why do we not speak of going to the moon again? and why has no other country attempted it? im asking a question i know cant be answered

Apparently there is an alien-base up on the dark side of the moon. Perhaps they are too afraid to make a second landing.

>>I have seen the evidence and both sides make good statements so based on pictures and all both sides are locked in a tie<<

No, they really aren’t.

>>if we went to the moon why have we not went back?<<

Because it’s expensive, and NASA is funded by US taxpayers, and when the Moon landings were happening people complained they were expensive and wasteful once the first landing showed the US could beat the Russians there. Funding was being cut even before Apollo 11.

>>they said the computer aboard the apollo was about the same technology used in todays calculator<<

No, the computer had a similar amount of memory to today’s scientific calculators. However, since the two items are totally different that is not a valid comparison. The Apollo computer was a single-function device dedicated totally to navigation issues, and was operated by human pilots.

>>if we have already been why wait so long?<<

Because we waited firty years before deciding to go back. The technology used back then is now obsolete, and the tooling and expertise from back then no longer exists.

>>and why has no other country attempted it?<<

The Russians did, and they failed because they had neither the money nor the united national will to do it.

>>im asking a question i know cant be answered<<

Wrong, it can be answered, and has been. If you choose to blindly reject those answers based on your own ignorance of the reality of the US space program in the 60s that’s your problem.

And I’ll say it again: there were SIX moon landings, plus a number of test flights in Earth and lunar orbit, all of which followed a very sensible progression of space flights of increasing duration and complexity. There is nothing intrinsically unbelievable about the Apollo missions unless you maintain ignorance of the history of the space program.

If you have already won a marthon and there are no more contestants, why run the marathon again?
You need to understand why the US went to the moon in the first place back in the sixties. It was to beat the russians. That´s all. And once the russians conceded defeit they turned to low earth orbit operations to be the first to build a spacestation. Again the americans followed suit and turned to low earth orbit operations too. The moon was over and done with. And so NASA and the russians began building spacestations. NASA built skylab and the russians built Slayut. NASA decided to build a reusable vehicle solely for LEO operations and that vehicle became the spaceshuttle. You asked "for what?". Well to beat the russians of course. But believe it or not there is also a great deal of science that can be done too.

NASA is going back to the moon soon. You compare the long wait to improvements made to cars every year. How do you improve the moon?

The question has been asked and answered time and time again.

The Moon landings are facts. There is no evidence of any kind that hints at the possibility of a fake. The computers used were not the types we use today and were used for guidance systems and engine control. A more modern computer does not change the physics of space flight. There is no need for high power computers in space. Once a communications system is in place, the space vehicle gets all the information it needs from the ground. Most modern technologies like cell phones and Instant messaging will not work in space because there is no infrastructure to support them. Going to the moon, landing, doing useful research, and returning safely is not the same as hopping into your car and going to the Mall. No other country has done it because there is little for them to do once they get there and the cost is more than most countries can bear. Electronics and space flight are two different technologies and cannot be compared. Perhaps mankind has reached for the stars and found them out of reach already. The money spent would be better applied to solving problems here on our own planet.

Firstly, conspiracy theories throw pseudo-science at people who have not got the intelligence or the know-how to see through them.

Most of the idiots who come on here with the moon landing hoax thing, talk about THE moon landing, which shows how damned ignorant they are.

The Apollo program lasted from 1961 to 1972 – when do you think the hoax was switched into it? What about the Gemini and Mercury programs that preceded Apollo – were those hoaxes as well. Many of the veteran controllers from those programs monitored the moon landings from Mission Control, from 1969 to 1972 -

DO YOU REALLY THINK YOU COULD GET THEM TO BE FOOLED BY SIMULATIONS, AND FOR 3 YEARS OF THE LANDINGS?

Secondly, it is false to say there is no reason to go back. Lunar geologists were devastated by the cancellation of Apollos 18-20. The last moon landing was the first to take a real geologist. They just scratched the surface of one very tiny part of the moon.

It was people like you ignoramouses that got the program cancelled. People like you got fed up with the missions after the first two, and they even cancelled the televised broadcast from Apollo 13 because the stupid public like you had lost interest.

That is why Apollo was cancelled. Lack of tax payer desire.

And the same drongos who caused the thing to be cancelled have obviously bred a generation of kids who have the same lack of intelligence and sense of the great achievement that was Apollo.

Faked? Does it look fake?

"Why haven't we been back?" The US sent missions back several times. Very expensive, Very dangerous. The American public lost interest.

People like you are more interested in science fiction--not in exploration and discovery.

Car makers should improve their designs, but haven't done much since the 60s and 70s. --Same with aircraft. They were reaching mach 6 in the early 1960s, you bedwetter.

Try to sell an expensive space program to the public and see how it is received.

The USSR did have plans for a Moon mission, but discontinued it after the US succeeded. The scale of the effort was huge. Other countries didn't have the money, resources, technology, or drive that the US had then.

No, and for three reasons:
1 - Why would the government do that? What could they possibly gain by creating a fake moon landing?
2 - Nobody has any reason to go back to the moon. It's like a desert island. There's nothing there, and nothing to do there. The only difference is the billions of dollars required to get there and back.
3 - Thirteen people have been on the moon. Nine of them are still alive, and they swear to god it was real, and their evidence is hard to defy. Almost a ton of moon rock over the years, photos taken of earth that would've taken an incredibly talented artist or a very skilled photoshopper to make.

>>if we went to the moon why have we not went back?

When we were GOING to the moon, people were demanding that we stop wasting money on that project.

>>we keep putting up space shuttles to orbit the earth but for what?

Congress funded a space station project, but canceled the lunar program.

>>in 2004 bush made a public speech in which he said we hope to go back to the moon in the next 17 years?huh if we have already been why wait so long?

First - Why can't Ford build a Model T? I mean, we're 80 years advanced since they came out - why can't they produce one? Answer: They CAN... but they need to re-tool, re-design, and build factories to do so. Same with NASA.
Second - If we go back, we're going back to STAY... not simply to beat the Russians. That means bigger ships, more technology to support people on the surface for up to two weeks or longer, and the ability to return safely.

All we absolutely need to get back to the moon is the will of the people. You sway them, and we can do it. Otherwise, no money will be alotted to the project, and we remained doomed on Earth. And, Obama stated he wants to cut NASA's budget - if he gets in office - you can kiss any idea of returning to the moon goodbye...

I think I answered your questions.

'im asking a question i know cant be answered'

Yeah, because the entire question is based on ignorance and faulty information. We've been to the moon FOUR TIMES genius. From 1969 to 1973 a total of TWELVE MEN walked on the lunar surface. What container truck have you been living in? Where do you get your information? From a box of cracker jacks?

The only reason we haven't been back since THEN is that there are better ways to spend NASA dollars than collecting more moon rocks and analyzing lunar strata.

PLEASE go back to school.
