thats normal.usually when someone tries to attack a lizard like an iguana, his tail will fall off and the enemy will be more intrested in the tail and will be distracted while the iguana gets away

Just keep your iguanas cage extra clean. Make sure you use a substrate like newspaper or paper towel.

How did it "fall off"? Did you pull it or did it get caught on something? If thats the case, it should heal up on its own just fine.

The other possibility is that shed skin was stuck on his tail and acted as a tournaqette and cut off blood supply to the tail, causing the tissue to die. If the tail is black or discolored at all, you should see the vet. They might have to remove more infected tissue and put him on antibiotics.

Here is a webpage dedicated to tail loss in Iguanas--please read!

The tail may or may not regrow. If there are any signs of infection, a vet visit will be needed as infections can be life threatening.

uh..I think that only applies to geckos and such. I don't think an iguana will regrow its tail. Sorry.
Here is an excellent link to info regarding this : http://www.greenigsociety.org/tailloss.htm
