Hi guys,

I am new to the snowboarding world (only went once), but I want to buy my own snowboard instead of renting one. I've been doing my research, but am unsure of what size board I should buy. I am 5'5, 125-130 lbs, and am looking for a beginner board. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

The other factor that you don't mention in your question is type of riding (freestyle/park or freeride/cruising) you will be doing. Try using this snowboard calculator:

http://www.frostyrider.com/tips/size-guide.htm

This will also give you suggestions on possible models that might suit your size and riding preference.

According to this, a 141cm for Park, 147cm for Freeride (runs, powder, etc) and 145cm for an All Mountain board. If you are just learning to ride, I highly suggest learning on a board with a little bit of setback (bindings to the rear of the board) which means an All Mountain board or a Freeride board.

My personal favorite brands are Ride, K2, and Burton (Freeride boards). If you are going to get a Freestyle board, maybe Forum, Lib Tech or K2.

Good Luck

I would get a 148/149 for your height/weight. I would recommend a Nitro Mystique. I have had one for 3 seasons. I had another brand before I got this board and it was far more difficult to turn. Nitro makes a good quality board so it will be a better beginner board since it will also allow you to advance, and will last a long time. Mine is still a good board, but I finally got a new Nitro board. You can't go wrong with one of their boards.

morrow boards are good for beginers cause once you get pretty good, you will want to upgrade immediately , so you dont wanna waste alot of money if you are only begginer. no board will make it easier when you learn, it only helps when you are good, but good luck. and the board should between your chin and nose, for beginers go closer to the chin, it makes it easier to learn how to turn cause there is less of the board you have to turn
