Well I actually don't know one, but I would suggest speaking with local friends of your who have had good or bad experience with one, they will be able to refer you to a good one and maybe tell you who to avoid. It's on a case by case basis.

Interview them. THEY are applying for a JOB. The job is managing YOUR money. If they can't explain why they are the best in terms YOU understand, they are not qualified for the job. Asking people you trust is a good way to find prospects, but ONLY a face to face interview can select the advisor that is best for you.

Referrals from friends is a great start.

Then call to make sure they are accepting new clients and if so, set up a meeting.

you have to pay them so treat them just like any other employee you were going to hire == interview several and go with the ones that you feel will meet your needs!!!
