My car was purchased out of state - so I can't bring it physically to the dealer for them to put in a new transponder; but is there anywhere I can have a blank cut just by providing the VIN #?

You can have a new key cut if you provide a VIN, registration and ID to match the name on the registration at the BMW dealership.

As long as you have proof of ownership (and VIN), it doesn't matter if your car is out of state. The BMW dealer will be able to help you with the transponder.

But I'm not sure if the dealer can cut you a new key without an existing key... try it anyway; nothing to lose for asking.

Don't worry, any key will work to gouge up the paint on one of those POS minians.
