my ferret has been sick for a few days and im sure her days are numbered. her hind legs are weak, she cant move them at all, and when she tries to move and fails, she gives up. she also cant control her bathroom problems. usually when she gives up, she just goes ling there, her poop comes out dark dark brown and its sticky and gets all over her. do i need to take her to a vet to get cured, or is she really dying.

Please, get her to a vet NOW! Whether she has something that can be cured or not, it doesn't matter. She needs to be seen by a vet. Even if there's no cure for what she has, you could at least get something to help make her more comfortable.
It could be Insulinoma or Aleutian Disease Virus. Whatever it might be, you need to get on the phone with your vet ASAP and tell them it's an emergency so they will get you in right away. She might have something that's incurable, but their are treatments for a lot of disease that will at least make them more comfortable and even give them the chance to live a little longer. Don't let her suffer another minute, get her to the vet NOW!

there are many things that could be causing it, and some of them are very treatable if you get her help right away. things like adrenal disease, insulinoma, lymphomas & aleutian disease are not always an immediate death sentence - but time is of the essence and you need to get her to a vet RIGHT NOW, even if it means calling an after-hours emergency vet. it doesn't matter if it is a dog & cat vet or one who specializes in ferrets. ANY vet would be able to get her going on an IV and get her stabilized until you can figure out who you want to go to for her long term care. ferrets have such a fast metabolism & are such little creatures that if you wait, you may be dooming her recovery.
good luck & hugs to the fuzzy.

You need to take her to a vet if you want her to get through this.
She might be going through renal failure, but you said she has poop problems too, so I don't know. Maybe she injested something she shouldn't have (pills, cleaners, etc.), which would explain why it seems like her body is shutting down.
But I'm not a vet so don't rely on yahoo answers to save the life of an animal.
I love ferrets I really hope she makes it.

I don't believe there's much you can do to cure her,but you need to take her to a vet.A vet who knows about ferrets, not a dog/cat vet.I went through this with my now husbands first ferret and she had Adrenal Disease. It sounds like she's in the late stages of Adrenal Disease and or Insulinoma. Two very life threatening diseases for ferrets. You need to take her to a vet for her comfort-she's in a lot of pain.I'm so sorry I wish you and you're little one the best.

Either way she needs to go to the vet. If she can be cured... wonderful! Get it done. If she can not be cured then it is your responsibility, as hard as it is, to end her suffering and have her put to sleep with a little dignity. It is the hardest thing that we face as pet owners but it is part of the agreement that we take on when we agree to take a living thing into our hearts and homes.
I pray that this is a fixable situation. But I pray more that you do the right thing no matter which way that it goes.

Ferrets are small animals and things happen fast with them. I would NOT wait any longer--get on the phone, find a vet who's knowledgeable about ferrets, and get her in to be checked up. The longer you wait the worse it can get.
