I hate to make sweeping generalizations. It is a generally agreed that it is not a good way to approach a problem or situation.
The Islamic people who practice the brand of Islam that imprisons and whips a woman for naming a teddy bear Mohammad or gives another six months in jail and two hundred lashes for being the victim of a gang rape is a form of the religion that has not embraced modernity. They practice strict forms of the religion that they believe, at least they say, is closer to the form the Mohammad preached. There is no better example of that form then the brand practiced in Saudi Arabia, the Wahhabi form.
Many Islamic nations have embraced modernity and are quite a bit more western in their approach to justice and tolerance then they are to the fundamentalist approach: Egypt, Turkey, Iran, Jordan.
But in one aspect of your statement I can concede a point provided it is prefaced with the condition that you are talking about their Islamic jihadists and our cowboy jihadists. With these two groups leading the conversation there will be no coexistence.
Now consider the following statement.
All conservatives are imbeciles.
It isn't true. I have a friend who is a conservative who is very intelligent. Is he the exception? I would like to think he isn't. But anyways, it is hardly a way to set the tone for discussion.

Not as far as those Muslim countries where they have paid informers who are probably very jealous of the Westerners. The fact that the secretary of the school did not just say to the teacher, who had only a couple of months of experience of this form of radical Islam, "this would not be tolerated by the government" shows just how petty these people are.

It is time for all those who would do voluntary service over seas to think again as these people obviously do not want any help.

By the way does anyone know if the school taught girls as this is probably the reason for the attack. It is well known that the fundamentalist Islam thinks that women should be ignorant.

No, I have answered simialar questions like this already today. But it basically boils down to the fact that western and islamic ideologies and norms and beliefs are truly and completely incompatable.

That is why we have been at loggerheads since before the crusades, and will be so for as long as the western countries and the islamic countries are on the same planet together.

Well, we have been at each others throats for over a thousand years, remember the Crusades? Remember the colonization of their countries by other nations? They do have some legitimate reasons for disliking the western countries. Thank goodness, calmer heads prevailed & the woman was given 15 days in jail & deportation. I don't think that westerners belong in those countries trying to do anything, we seem to always be offending them, I'm sure that is not the intention of those who go there to work but, it seems to happen too often for comfort. These people are really very intelligent, they don't need us to teach them anything. Our way isn't always the right way for others.

Main difference between Western culture and islam is the freedom of women. In West man and woman are equal and enjoy all opportunities. But even in most modern Islamic countries like Soudi Arabia,Dubai.Kuwait etc, women have no freedom. They are considered only sex objects. They even do not have right to have dress of their choice. They cannot even enter a Mosque and pray.Western culture, broadminded views can never tolerate Muslim fundamentalism.

It seems that Islam does not wish to be part of a modern world, or should I say the people who are practicing it, humility and common sense would say that this lady named this bear Mohamed in total innocence without any attachment and insult to their prophet.

This demonstration of lunacy is a frightening example of the extremism in some of Islams followers, the religion its self may demand all those who blaspheme to be punished severely in its original text, as does Christianity, but while the people who follow Christianity do not go around burning people at the stake or slaughtering people because they do not accept Christ as they once did, Islamic extremist followers take the original position and are I believe in their intolerance wanting to rid all others in this world.

Sounds crazy, but its true!!!

The problem with the middle east is that the countries are ruled by religion and not by a cohesive government. Its the Mullahs who hold the reins of power. Its why the Sudanese Govt bowed to religious pressure and could not react sanely and logically to a "trivial" event such as naming a teddy mohammed. Where men use organized religion as a means of holding power and controlling the masses you will always have chaos and irrational thinking.
