Our children should always come first! And, I have also long felt that college or at least trade school should be free for everyone who has the ability and the inclination to go. I also think that career counseling, complete with aptitude testing and interest assessments should be available for everyone. It would be tremendously beneficial to society as a whole, and there would be a much smaller need for welfare and other programs that neocons are so fond of complaining about. It would help to level the playing field, and give everyone a more equitable chance for a comfortable life. Unfortunately, that is not what the so called elite want. They actually want to bring the feudal system back, or a society which uses China as a model to aspire to. *sm*

His position is not that children of illegal immigrants get free college tuition. His position is that children of illegal immigrants who graduate from US high schools, should be eligible to apply for college scholarships. I won't be voting for him for other reasons, but we should at least be accurate on the candidates positions.

By the way, the Arkansas constitution requires that all children be permitted to enroll in public schools, even those of illegal immigrants.

I disagree. Huckabee certainly is a big government social conservative. The thing that disturbs me most about him is how he helped in pardoning a rapist. The rapist later got out and raped someone else then died in 2005. Huckabee is by no means a decent person.

As I understand it, he didn't necessarily pay their college tuition, he simply said that those children are eligible (after going through Arkansas' educational system) for the same opportunities as everyone else. His rationale is that they can't be held responsible for their parents decision. I agree with him there, but believe that his program would provide an incentive to other parents still in Mexico to come across illegally.

I disagree paying college tuition for anybody. If they want an education then they need to pay for it. Either thru a loan or their own finances. I believe these individuals were privileged enough when they received a grade school/high school education illegally.

How about everyone pay for their own damned college? Why do people think it's ok to pick my pocket to pay for someone else's college?
