I have a 1991 Mazda B2600i pick up truck. i had a Inverter and i pluged it into the trucks outlet so i can charge my computer. i used it a couple of times there after. then one time my Inverter did not light up and would not charge my computer. the inverter did not work anymore. but then also i have a car phone charger for my phone and i used that a couple of times on my trucks outlet as well. then a couple days later the car phone charger didnt work either. is it my trucks outlet that caused both my inverter and my car car charger to stop working? what can i do to fix this because im usually in my truck a lot and i need to use the outlet but i dont want it killing all my stuff. thanks

Well there are a couple of things to look at here first check the voltage at the outlet, this may sound stupid but if your truck is 24 volts and you have had repairs done it is possible something is not connected right and now you have 24 volts at the outlet instead of 12 vots, if that is ok then start the truck up and then check what voltage is at the outlet if it goes much higher than 14 volts i would start looking hard as the vehicle maybe over charging, an indicator for this as you may start going through light globes and last but not least check the polarity is correct on outlet once again may mistakenly been have changed with repairs done to the vehicle so what you should have is the centre contact should be + and the outer metal frame should be -. i must admit it seems strange it works for a couple of days i would be really concerned that the vehicle is overcharging.
Let me clarify 1 thing before i go your laptop draws a very small amount of current same with your phone charger so the adapter you will plug into outlet will blow well before the fuse.will, chevk maybe you afapter has a fuse in it you maybe able to replace but never the less the problem is in the vehicle.

hope this is helpful to you.

Check the voltage at the truck's outlet. It should not be above the rating of the equipement that you are using. If you have the wrong fuse in line it will not protect the equipment. On the other hand you shouldn't be blowing fuses either. If you have a bad connection in the socket or to the socket that could cause a problem.

check the fuse to the cig lighter socket, it must have the wrong one in there. if the fuse is to big, it will let more current to what ever you are charging. thus destroying it.put the correct fuse or smaller one in place of whats there.
