First they want the government out of peoples' bedrooms and other personal aspects of our lives, yet they are fully willing to butt in on households and tell people how to raise their children, not to mention the nanny state attempt at banning smoking in privately owned establishments, households, in cars, and outside on the streets, sidewalks and parks.
They are trying to ban SPANKING in Mass.. We're not talking about beatings or abuse with belts and whips here, we're talking about a little swat on the behind of disobidient children! In Maine they approved to give birth control pills to middle schoolers (starting at age 11. Which contradicts the laws in Maine saying it's illegal for 11 year olds to even have sex), and they are cutting the parents out of the loop by not informing them if their children are sexually active and receiving the pill.
I thought the liberal democrats we're about more personal freedom, not less?

Sure seems like they are about a Big Brother Nanny State Government with more control over our lives and the indoctrination of our children by demonizing and trying to cut out the parents, and cradle to the grave care by the state (state run day care, state run k-12 education, left leaning colleges, state run health care, and state controlled retirement) to ensure the upcoming generations are fully brainwashed to tout the big government liberal/socialist line.
Other items worth mentioning from the left: Attacks to demonize Christianity to have more atheists to worship the state (like communist nations). Indoctrinating our kids by teaching them about BS man made global warming, teaching them to embrace the polarizing concepts of multiculturalism and secularism, and teaching them about and to accept alternative lifestyles. Attacks against capitalism by demonizing corporations and creating class warfare.
Words can't even express how much I detest socialism and liberalism.

Yea... because Rudy is a liberal republican. As is the RINO republican governor of my state, MN. He too passed a non smoking ban and governs like a liberal.

Great Question and great points.
I've learned long ago that liberalism is not about freedom. It's about nanny state control over our lives.
Reject liberalism and support freedom.

I hate to say it but sometimes time outs don't work. We have created such a generation of soft pansy yuppies who's kids start taking drugs at 10 years old. Back in the 50's 60's 70's and 80's when parents where allowed to discipline their kids guess what you never heard of... School shootings, child on child rape, 12 year olds stealing cars. Why??? My guess is they were afraid of dad finding out. Thats right a child shouldn't fear their parents. Let em kill each other as long has they are happy right?

All governments seek power. You can point to cases in history on both sides of the spectrum where the government actively tried to curb the rights and power of its own people.
If you love a particular political idealogy more than common sense, you'll always be at risk of giving some of your freedom away, to preserve that idealogy.
Freedom is neither a right wing, or left wing ideal. Indeed, both sides are guilty of trying to corrupt it in our history.

First of all, not all liberals believe in an anti-spanking law. I think it is going overboard. A similar measure failed to pass in California, not that long ago. So no double standard there.
In Maine, the real story is that a clinic attached but not affiliated with the school is allowed to give kids birth control pills without informing the parents. However, the kids have to get permission from the parents before entering the health clinic. I guess Rush forgot to tell that part about it...eh? So if you don't want your kid getting birth control pills from the clinic, don't give you kid permission to go to the clinic. It makes a compelling arguement when you only use half the story.

When the state can't protect the children from repeated reports of abuse, how can anyone expect the swat on the hand because a kid tried to touch the stove will be enforced?

No, it is just Republicans trying to control peoples lives as usual.
"ALBANY, New York (AP) -- A statewide smoking ban was passed Wednesday by the Legislature and immediately signed by Gov. George Pataki, making New York the third state to stamp out cigarettes in virtually all businesses. "
Rudy signed into law the NYC smoking ban in 1995.

This is really just a big rant, isn't it?
I think you have made too many claims here with very little evidence to support it.
You are also confusing the Republican ideals of smaller government and less intrusion with what you percieve to be the actions of liberals.

Part of my reason for joining this forum was to truly get a deeper understanding of the liberal agenda. I knew what liberalism and democrats and socialism were already. But i truly wanted to find out what the left really wants what is their vision their grand scheme of things. I cant figure it out! I cant!! They stand for EVERYTHING and they STAND for NOTHING at the same time. Like some paper- mache bobble head doll from hell , they twist and turn and spin and bob and weave. Saying everything but at the same time saying nothing.

Just because my party flip-flops on every issue and lies about almost anything to get into power doesn't mean that they are bad...
Democrats want to take over...nationalized heathcare...that has communism written all over it...
Granted, the republicans haven't brought anything better to the table...but I'd rather have what we have now than having to wait 3 years to get surgery.

research shows that spanking is abuse, that serves only to make the parent feel powerful. The research shows that it traumatizes children but does create short term benefits of conformity.
Next when parents are so shameful of sex, they refuse to teach their children about sex, we have to do it for them. They also are not supporting what is best for children because they are so concerned with hiding it.
Christianity as i see it has become evil through its pride and judgments. They can support war but believe in turning the other cheek and loving their enemy, i am confused by that.
