Chi-Guy- Weren't your proud of John McCain last night? I wanted to stand up and cheer him. Where has he been this campaign. I saw the old spark of the maverick!
John McCain is absolutely right. Waterboarding is torture and how are we to regain our status if we torture people in violation of the Geneva Convention and John McCain said all of that last night. He scored big in my book.

Easy to answer - somebody you DON'T know grabs you ties you up and straps you to a board. Jams a towel in your mouth and covers your face and pours water over your head until you freak out. You don't THINK they're gonna kill you but you don't know for sure.
Is it torture?
When I served, I kept one round for myself in case I got captured (I had a high level clearance) and I sure as hell was not gonna be tortured. I figured if they got any info out of me they kill me anyway, and if they didn't they'd kill me anyway.
But I knew which countries tortured and which didn't - and ALL the countries that used torture were considered BAD GUYS by the people of the United States, except for a couple we were giving weapons and equipment to). Torture occurs overseas, yes- but the countries who do it are considered brutal backward regimes (Khmer Rouge? Nazis? Imperial Japan?) we are not those people.

I don't think McCain would be the best long term leader for the United States.
He has a soft-spoken insecure demeanor.
But I completely agree with him on that point and he makes me proud that he is willing to stand up against it despite criticism.
It's a leadership quality that, unfortunately, not many Americans will recognize until it is too late.

I have to agree with McCain about it being torture. I also had no doubt that he loves this country when he said that this is a defining issue and that America should have no part of it.Although I will never vote for a Republican again He did make me swell with pride at that moment.

McCain. Torture is torture no matter what name it goes by. I grew up thinking the USA was above torture and that torture was for Nazis, and Communists, and dictators. I was always proud that we didn't sink to their level. Well now we're at their level and I don't like it. I don't feel any safer because we torture people but I do feel a lot crappier about this country and where we're headed. It's a shame.

If there's one thing John McCain knows something about it's torture. Mitt Romney is a draft didger.

Well, while we were in the middle of a war, did we go with a vet with a chest full of medals or a guy who joined the air guard and couldn't even find one fellow guardsman who remembered serving with him?
America goes with the tough-guy rhetoric over actual experience every time.

OK, libs...I did my tours in the Marines, was trianed in what the Geneva Conventions covered, and what was NOT allowed.
TERRORISTS ARE NOT COVERED BY THE CONVENTIONS>>>THEY ARE TERRORISTS !!!!
If 1 American life can be saved by waterboarding a terrorist slime, better to break out the electrodes and LIGHT HIM UP !
You libs that decry this, first you need to hand a flag to the next of kin of a dead GI, like I did for 2 years at a National Cemetery, then you can run your mouth ! I think you would feel 180 degrees differently if you knew that some terrorist was handled with kid gloves, and your loved one was beheaded for it !
Grow up, get smart, these scum DON'T PLAY BY ANY RULES, so they deserve the SAME !
