If you get a gift that you really don't like or can't use and you know someone else would enjoy it and, would never find out it was a recycled gift, then I say do it. (like the wrong size, wrong scent etc.) What else are you going to do with it, throw it away? You could always donate it, but if you can find another good use for it why not save yourself some money. If the gift is genuinely cheesy then don't give it to a friend or loved one. You should have more respect for them. Someone gave my 19 year old daughter an ugly cheese board for Christmas last year. I know it was a recycled gift. I think she threw it away. So I say go ahead and do it if the gift is nice and you know the receiver will genuinely enjoy it.

As long as the gift is truly not used, and truly what the next recipient wants, then I see no problem with it.
That said, if it was second or third hand before you got it, it's a definite no-no. Also, if it's something that you're only giving in order to get it out of your house, then you might as well just give it to the Goodwill.
My aunt & uncle were both teachers...Their students would give them HORRIBLE gifts, which they would then pass on to the family at Christmas (or the following June, when they'd actually get around to giving gifts). One year, my other aunt was given a dress for her birthday...it was wrinkled and smelled like body odor. That kind of re-gifting is definitely no okay.

Good idea. But you must be sure you don't give it to the person who gave it to you. And you must be sure the person who gave it to you and the person you are giving it to don't know eachother.
Giving Christmas gifts is just a stupid thing for adults to do. Why don't we all grow up and stop and then questions like this will be unnecessary.

Fine with me if it seems like the other person would like it. Not many people like fruit cakes. And make sure all the past wrapping paper is removed.

No big deal. I've done it and I'll probably do it again and again. I found out my friends mom did it to me one xmas. She didn't seem to care and I didn't either. It was a nice gift, I thought.
