It's very rare for me to add anyone - but those I do I know enough about (through their answers) get in without going over the fine details...
As for those who add me to THEIR list - I give most of them a quick peek, and either accept (by doing nothing), add them to my list (if I'm impressed by what I see), or remove myself from their list (by blocking them - and unblocking if I so choose) ;);););)

Well at the moment I don't allow for anybody to add me but when I did allow for it the first thing I would do was check out their questions and answers as well as their contacts as well as those are some things that say a lot about who you are dealing with. It's better to be safe rather then sorry especially with the way things are on here nowadays.

No. If they are interested enough in me to want to be a fan, I just add them. Then I check out their profile and see if they have any questions for me to weigh in on.

Yes, I look at their profile but I also give them a chance to prove themselves and in what capacity they are desiring my attention.
