I'm just a regular country bumpkin. I tried living in a city once and couldn't handle it. Too many people, too close. I like plenty of elbow room!

I lived 7 miles out of town about a mile at the end of a dirt road, my nearest neighbor was 1/2 mile away and we had 3 acres and it was mostly surrounded by deep ravines. It was secluded and I loved it. But when the divorce came it was no place for me and two little toddlers so I moved into town which only had a population of 20,000 WHEN the students were in school, other wise it was just 10,000. I loved it there. I moved to a city of about 80,000 to get a good job an it seemed like a small beautiful community with nice yards and lots of parks and the lake was preserved for the public the whole length of the city. It is about 45 mins. south of Milwaukee and 45 mins north of Chicago...perfect at the time. Now it has grown so much that all I want to do is move to the county. But that isn't possible now. I like the connivance now but I'd rather be a country bumpkin! lol!

If I could, I'd rather live out in the country. Right now I'm between the city and the ocean, which is great, but it's also gotten far too crowded. Only the people who bought their property many years ago, or the ones who have a whole lot of money, are the fortunate ones with any elbow room around here!

I live in the country and will not live in the city at all. I love living in the country. You have more freedom in the country than in the city.

You can plant a garden in the country, hang clothes on the line, have well water. Don't have to worry about the neighbors watching every move that you make. Country life is so much better.

One foot in the city, the other in the country. I love Shanghai all 19 million people of it - but would love a little cabin on a lake or on the ocean too - best of both worlds, the country for a few months, but spend more time in the city

I was raised on a farm until I was 13 and then lived in a big city until I was 27 and moved to a big dairy farm with my ex and my kids. I now live 25 miles from another big city. I live near the Gulf of Mexico in Texas. I really like where I live now but nothing can beat life in the country for me. So much beauty, lots of wonderful sounds, privacy, l animals, serenity and peace.

We lived in the city and apts for a long time and it was ok, but we live out in the country now at the end of a dirt road and I like it much better. The neighbors are there if you need them, but no one bothers anyone else. I have my pets here and can raise a small vegetable garden. I'd love to have a big farm out on some acreage, that would be ideal.

I would love to live in the country,on a hobby farm but my husband has asthma and is allergic to animals. This city is so crowded now and the traffic is horrendous and very stressful. Whenever I go anywhere new, I get out my map of the city and plan my trip on the back roads. It takes a little longer ,but at least I get there and back in one piece.

I would love to live in the country with some elbow room. My wife however likes the city for her shopping pleasures. I don't know if there's a happy median ?

I grew up a city girl and a military brat. I never lived in a rural area till I married my ex husband and moved to Iowa. I am use to this small town. I love where I live and I doubt that I will ever move again. I have a large, double, corner lot so my neighbors aren't real close.
