using the bathroom? at all , I know they don't, I watched a program on this.

During hibernation, bears do not eat because they have stored the fat from the food they ate in the summer and fall in their bodies (like Grizzly bears store it in their hump like structure on the high back area). Since they do not need eat, I would assume that is why they do not go to the bathroom.

Slowing down metabolism means bowel slows down too, like someone in severe thyroid deficiency has severe constipation.

they also clog the anus by eating hair, twigs and rocks.
they pull it out when they wake up
