I agree with whoever taught you. Although it may sound cynical, the world is a cold hard place. You do the best you can, enjoy it to the fullest, because when it's over that is the end. You cease to be. And Hevean and Hell, well there is no proof! NOTHING AT ALL. Most believe that there IS an afterlife, so they live theirs lives in constant fear of omnipotent powers, but the idea of an almighty presence that determines all seems a tad bit ridiculous to me. And IF this "god" exists, then he has done a poor job with the world, and if anything, after the state of our world, he should be overthrown. I know I got off topic but it all ties together. If you believe in God, usually, you believe in the after life, and vice versa.

Hindus believe that accumulated fruits of action leads to rebirth, not necessarily as a human, to wipe out the accumulated load. If some more is acquired in that birth there will be further rebirths till the slate is clean.
After which there is permanent release.
If human, one can do something to achieve the release in this birth itself. It is not by performing 'good' deeds though.

Christian belief is that when die you are given a new body, you get it whether or not you are going to Heaven. I don't know what your teacher wants but this is the rebirth of my religion. I do not believe in reincarnation but since the mind is an electrical computer, where does that energy go? This is my personal belief. You have to find your own path, look at others views but make up your own mind. Don't follow blindly the path set before you, search your mind and soul for your way.

There is no evidence for such as of now, scientifically.
Many religions preach however about varying types of rebirth (reincarnation, resurrection).
Philosophically, if I'm not mistaken, Heidegger would imply that we cease "to be" at death, thus no one can actually relay to the living - who are beings that are Being - about what happens after death

I have never heard of the "only one chance with birth theory"
I do believe in reincarnation and we have many many lives to come back to ...UNTIL we get it right ! Look at it this way earth is our ultimate school and we can take many classes in dealing with people, situations ect... its our choices that make all the difference if we act in a positive manner we move to the next situation hopefully learn...and move on...and that my friend can take as many as 100's of life times.....what do you think...oh and ultimately we are our own judge and jury....

After physical death, we are born into the Spirit World. There we plan again for another life or incarnation back to earth – reincarnation. Birth into our physical world is temporary death to the spirit life.

No one knows. No one can know. But some people take such comfort by the idea that they convince themselves it must be true. Then to support that, they must convince YOU that it's true. And if they have power over you, they'll settle for you SAYING you believe it. So in honesty, no, no one knows - but in practicality, be careful saying that to a "true believer".

having not yet experienced actual death, i cannot say with any authority...however there are many books on the subject, where they got their information is anyones guess, then there are "divinely inspired" books and they may well be divinely inspired, having not experienced any divine inspiration to write, i would not be any sort of authority on what divinely inspired writing would read like.
