where is a good spot to go gold mining in nsw / sydney / austrailia?

Mining is somewhat restricted as most of the likely sites are already claimed. You can, however, pan for gold almost anywhere. See my answer in your panning for gold question.

Bathurst NSW- The site of one of the first goldrushes in NSW. You can pan for gold, and explore the mines, though I don't know if you can actually mine for gold.
