Do you swing? Have fetishes? Are hooking up every night? Prefer men? Women? Goats?
Personally, I don't discuss my sex life with my boss or coworkers, but perhaps I'm in the minority here? Why is it such a big deal to keep it out of all professions, including the military, just out of professional courtesy?
And before you jump down my throat saying I'm a homophobe, I swing both ways. And I'm ex military. Aren't you glad to know that?

So we can talk about sex and the military, but not sex and the private sector?

thanks for your service, fellow Veteran! (Hooah!) I couldn't resist answering your question, My wife and I own our own business, she is listed as the senior partner, sooo, you could say, "I'm sleeping with the boss" so after 25 years of marriage (this week) I think my 'boss' knows which way I "swing" and I'm pretty sure she know my 'preference'
A good boss should be interested in your job performance, not your 'extracurricular performance'

My boss should not have to know this preference. It is not one of the legal discriminations protected. So it won't matter if I get fired for being straight or bi, what have you. In the military, they are very strong head on having straights, but now there is that don't tell don't ask policy, probably to save someone from being discriminated by his/her peers and or superiors. I would not care on what ppl are in my business, just as long as they do their job hired for.

So how does a gay man answer this innocent question asked of him at a lunch break with fellow coworkers who are discussing the activities they shared with their wives and children: "What did you do this weekend". If he answers it, "My partner and I saw a movie" then he is discussing his life, not his sex life, yet he has just "come out" and gets blames for being "in your face" with his sexuality. Get over it.

The military doesn't just work together, they live together too. Big difference. I knew gays were in the military while I was in, but those that didn't flaunt their lifestyle in my face didn't get reported. Then there are those that flaunt and turned my dorm into a dyke Jerry springer episode and they needed to go. That was my home too and I had the right to have a peaceful existence.

Ever heard the phrase "that's too much information?"
Well, yeah, you met that and blasted through.
You can have your preferences, but you keep personal life separate from professional life.
It's good you don't walk up to your boss and describe exactly what you do.
You would likely be fired on the spot unless you work in a tat shop or something.

I could really care less to know or hear what sexual preferences my coworkers have. I care more about their personality and motivation at work. As long as they aren't shoving their sexual preferences in my face, I say live and let live!

No, its not something that I want to share. Why would I tell my boss, my parents or Grandma my sexual preference... unless of course I was coming out of the closet and proud of it :) Is that the case with you?

Not really glad to know, that's your business and not mine. Yes , my boss knows where I stand on that issue, we often discuss the best looking women we see.

Shouldn't you be asking these questions to people you know not strangers on the Internet. Why would anyone talk about their personal life at work.

I don't think it is any ones business your sexual preference, especially your boss. If you open up the discussion then you may be ridiculed for your ideas because not all people believe the way you do.
