punk rock, heavy metal, and rap cause all of the violence, so why don't we just make music illegal?

Music doesn't kill people, sociopaths kill people.
Besides, a lot of this music doesn't promote bad values. Yes, there is some rap that is derogatory towards women and supports violence, but a lot of it doesn't. Punk rock usually doesn't have very much to do with violence at all. And heavy metal is definitely not violent. Maybe if you listen to Judas Priest but most metal doesn't have anything to do with violence.
You'd have to be a first-class idiot to let some music influence you into beating or murdering someone. In this case, I fully support weeding these people out of society by jailing them. Music isn't the problem.

Are you serious? Have you heard the saying, "Guns don't kill people, people kill people"? It applys here. Music doesn't make people kill or rape or smoke pot. They make the decisions to do it themselves. Besides, it is completely against what America was built on and what it stands for, music is a freedom of speech. Not to mention that you named some genres that make billions of dollars a year. It would not be good.

This is as stupid as saying violent video games make people do crimes and murder people. The people that do these crimes had bad parents, or needed medicine, or were just idiots to start with.

in my opinion, music doesnt make u do anything, its just meant to be listened to and thats it. people just use it as an excuse for all their problems that they dont want to admit they have..
