First, congrats on wanting to pursue your career! Good for you! I'm sure the university you want to attend has a website so I would go there to find out more about obtaining your education degree.

*obtain a copy of your transcript from the college where you obtained your degree to see if everything you took from there will transfer to the univeristy.

*contact either someone from admissions and/or a admission's officer for the education department of the univeristy you want to attend ASAP. Make an appointment to meet with that person. Bring your transcript and a notebook to take notes.

*once you have figured out what you need to do in order to obtain your BA/BS, go and apply formally to the school for admission.

*also start applying for financial aid/student loans right away!

Lastly, enjoy school!!!!

Just apply for the college of your choice once you've canvased around to see what can get you a teaching degree to best suite your needs. If you want elementary, you go to the one that teaches it best. Actually there are alot of factors that go into selecting a college of your choice, so be careful what you choose. You don't need to take SATs anymore from what I can remember, since you have an associate's degree. The SAT was only for high school kids. I didn't need to take it. Neither did my brother. I would also speak to a counselor of the school you're going to as well as when you apply, make sure you apply to at least two schools. I've never been to a 4 years school either, but I am deciding now whether I 'm going to transfer to one after getting my associates this semester or next semester.

Associate in ARTS or Associate in SCIENCE?

If you have the AA degree, you already have first 2 years of 4 year college done. If it was the AS, you have to nearly start all over again. Only few core classes will count towards your basic education requirements.

My suggestion is to select a community college of your choice and work toward either completing your AA degree, or find a suitable 4 year college and major in education. Let the counselor at the college you'll be returning guide you for rest of the way. There are too many factors to simply tell you what to do in a limited space available here.
