But there was never a formal/very obvious connection?

I have no idea why, but I always associated Blue Oyster Cult with Boston....

You?

Dinosaur Jr., Jimmy Eat World.

I know there are more, I just can't think of them right now.

EDIT: I know why, it's because they both refer to a young thing that could cause destruction (a little boy eating the world, and a young dinosaur stomping around). And then they also both have a J in their names.

Linkin Park and System of a Down!
I can't find a connection.
I did but it's stupid!
Linkin Park has not always had the same vocalist.
They used to have this guy named Mark Wakefield.
And he did the cover art for Toxicity.
The second album from System of a Down.

REO Speedwagon, Styx, and Journey. They all are kind of a soupy mix to me.

All of the boybands of the 90s seem the same - 98 Degrees, NSync, etc.

And then all of the pop rock bands get confusing to me - Matchbox 20, Maroon 5, Nickelback, whatever the heck otherones there are. They all suck, I guess that's what they have in common...

Blackmore's Night with Fleetwood Mac and Sandy Denny

I think it's because Candice Night has a look of Stevie Nicks' 70's style, but I've also seen a photo of her where she looks very like Sandy. And in their songs I can hear hints of Fairport Convention's music style, and a touch of Stevie's lyric style.

Did You know all three bands have the same cover song on their debut album? All three are also twin guitar bands with a charismatic frontman.

The Fall of Troy and He Is Legend. They sound slightly similar, but I don't think that could be it. Maybe its the names, they do kind of correlate.

Edit: Could be, haha.
