Today I looked at my checking account summary and it said earlier this week a deposit of $2,387.24 was added to my account. I did not make this deposit. I don't even have that kind of money. Can someone tell me what's going on? Does someone have my account information? When i call the bank, how do I prove that the money is not mine?

Contact your bank...DON'T SPEND IT...as that is the same as stealing it (You will be arrested, and charged with theft) It's the price we pay in such a connected world...all it takes is a slip of the finger when a teller types the account number

It was a clerical error. Notify the bank. They will track it down soon enough, when the other party starts wanting to know where their deposit went. I had a similar thing occur, only I made a deposit that went missing. The bank was able to track it down within 10 minutes when I went there. It was an input error, off by a single digit.

Call the bank, they should be able to account everything coming and going into your bank. It sounds like either a mistake or a security breech, don't delay in calling them. If someone can put money into your account, they can just as easily take it out.

It was probably supposed to go into a different account and they typed in your # by mistake. If you spend any of it, you will be guilty of theft and can be prosecuted for it. You have a duty to alert the bank and set it straight. You don't have to prove anything, just tell them. They will be able to research it and find out who it belongs to. Under no circumstance is this a windfall for you.

Banks always figure out the error eventually. Someone will be asking about their money... You'd better call the bank now.

Do not call the bank. Go there in person. Bring your account information and valid identification.

someone pushed a wrong key and it went to your account when they entered their pin number.........so get to your bank and report it...before they come looking for you!

If you don't report it.............they WILL finally find you.......then you have to sign in writing that you never got that much deposited in your account and then they will check your account and find it.

So there you are..............it still falls back on you.

Go to the bank.........find out who put it in there.....and whether or not you can yell THANK YOU out your front door!

Please contact the bank. They have made an error and posted something to the wrong account.
