like if you work at disney (or whatever large park/chain parks), after you get off of work, do the employees usually then go hang out together at other parts of the park? do you get free access to all other parks? is there a thriving social scene for the young people who work at the parks?

For example, let's say you work at Disney in Orlando, you get off of work in the evening, would you get together with a small group of co-workers to get ready to go out to Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island where you'll meet a great many other disney employees already there partying...then let's say a bunch of you leave that area and go back to someone's apartment complex and swim and hottub late at night.

or does kind of thing not happen and everyone pretty much goes to work and goes home like they would working any other job in the country?

Well, both. Sure there are times, you hang out with some of your co-workers afterwork at the park or DTD or at one of the hotels only because you're there already and it's free to get in the park. We usually get discounts on food and merchandise. Sometimes if we're lucky we get to see sneak previews of movies for free too. Twice a year the park is shut down at night just for the employees which reminds me next week is the Xmas party. Sometimes, we venture out of the parks to the beach or to a club. Other times, it's just work and it's nice to be home away from all the noise.

I can't speak for Disney, but I worked for Six Flags for several years.

When the park closes, we have to leave when done but that doesn't stop everyone from going out to eat (the most popular) or to someone's apartment or house for a party or watch some DVDs or something. Yes, free access to all related parks with our employee IDs. The social scene certainly is thriving, as the majority of my closest friends are all people I met while working there. It was literally like high school, with all the drama too, since most people were in high school and college. That's what I really, truly miss the most about that place was the people. We all had the same things to complain about, funny or stupid customer stories that we could tell and get the whole group to laugh at, because they understood.

*sigh*

I worked at Kings Island for two years, the 2005 and 2006 season. My personal experience after working at the part was mostly positive. Most of my co-workers went home; however, some do stay to ride rides.
Kings Island did events for employees such as...
Nights after the park was closed to the general public, employees were given the chance to stay in the park and ride certain rides without the stress of waiting in line.
We had parties all the time, some I cant really say to much about... but they were fun.
