1. Determining a Goldfish's Gender
It's not easy to tell the male Goldfish from the female Goldfish. Professional breeders can often tell the difference, but it's difficult for them to explain how they do it.
Mature female Goldfish are usually plumper, and mature males have little bumps on their heads, called tubercles, that turn white and are easier to see, when the Goldfish spawn. Click here for more information about determining the gender of Goldfish.

The female has a larger butt. This is the best way to tell a female from a same sized male.
The female goldfish has a fanned fin and the male has a fin that sticks out.
Males always chase females around the aquarium most of the time. So the chaser is nearly always male, and the chasee is female.
When boy goldfish want to mate, they get white spots on their tail. If your goldfish has a spotty tail, it's definitely a male. If it doesn't, it's a girl or a boy who's just not ready yet. The male will develope white bumps on their gills and the females stomach area will enlarge as she fills with eggs. Also, the female will have a slightly larger and protruding vent (anal opening). And they will also look lopsided
not that hard just looked it up on google took like 2 mins

The best way, for someone who isn't experienced looking at hundreds of different varieties of goldfish is the breeding tubercules on the male and the shape of the vent on either the male or female. The fish need to be at least a year old and in spawning condition to develop these characteristics, but having them be three years or older is better for breeding. This link will show you what to look for: http://www.bristol-aquarists.org.uk/goldfish/info/sexing-fs.htm
Goldfish don't get pregnant - they lay eggs. It's not common to have them lay eggs in a tank, but it happens sometimes. You'd have a better chance if they were outdoors in a pond. A temperature change seems to trigger spawning behavior, so outdoors, fish typically spawn in the spring when the water is warming up. Inside, they may spawn in the spring, or in the fall (I guess air conditioning to heat is similar to the seasonal change).
Getting the fish to spawn may be the easy part for you - you'll need a second tank to put the eggs in, or the parents may eat them. You also need to have food ready for thr fry to eat once they absorb their yolk sac. Baby fish don't eat a lot at any one time, but they need to be fed several times a day to make up for it. The large number of feedings can lead to poor water quality, so expect to do lots of water changes with a very small piece of tubing to siphon food off the bottom but not get the fry caught.
See the links below for more detailed info on spawning and raising the fry:

Telling weather a goldfish is male or female is quite easy. In the spring the males get little wite bumps in there gill plates and pectoral fins called tubriculs. If white bumps are restricted to this area only then it is important not to confuse thish with the desease ick, white spot. also in the spring the females get a more rounded appearance assoceated with eggs inside developing.

you can't really. you can read up and see the physical differences in a male and female. then you can go try to find them in a store and buy them. you can also put them in thier own private suite. turn the lights down low. play some music. get the mood going for those sexy fishies. when you see a bunch of bubbles, then that means the female fish was satisfied.

Buy a male goldfish. If they don't fornicate, you know your first one is also a male, and then you need to buy two females.
