I am buying a name plate for my house, A welcome sign with our name under it...So it would say Welcome...The Joneses. Would it be right to use The Joneses? Would someone break this down for me? Many Thanks!!!

The saying goes something along the lines of do you want people to visit the people or the place? Do they visit you or your house. In my culture it is about the people.

So Joneses is fine.

You don't have to use "The Joneses"

You could Jones's Residence

or The Joneses Residence

Or Welcome to the Jones(es)

I would most likely have a sign along the lines of 'House of Jones' Also I do believe that it the name ends with the letter s the apostrophe should follow the name. *Jones' house*
