I get out and run till I am tired. Also you can imagine the source of the anger is in pillow, and hit it with your fist or a bat.
You can avoid some anger by just considering the source as not important.
It also helps to develop more understanding of people and situations, this will minimize anger
Getting angry does not accomplish much, and it is usually just an unpleasant waste of time.

Ok. ... First of all. I know what NOT to do... Dont over eat because then you are going to get used to it and eat all the time until you are a FATTY McFat. Dont kill people or throw things. You should, Pinch your pillow. draw your feelings, call someone close to you and vent... work out... that is the best you can do for yourself. watch a sad movie and feel for the person on tv and less of yourself becasue you know that there are people out there that are worse off than you are at the moment.

Screaming into a pillow might be a good thing, my brother-in-law says my sister does that sometimes.
I saw someone in a movie run to train tracks when the train went by and scream.
Exercise is very good.
Write down all the angry feelings on paper and burn it in an ashtray.
Find someone "safe" with whom you can share your thoughts.

This type of reaction is not generally considered to be helpful. Many people mistakenly believe that this type of "catharsis" is helpful, but it actually can make you feel more angry. Think about laughing when your happy, or jumping up and down when you're excited. These actions INCREASE your emotions, they don't decrease the feelings. The best way to deal with anger is to try and calm down and get at the root of why your mad. Maybe write a letter describing why you're angry at someone (you don't need to let them see it :) or listen to music and think of ways that you and the person you're angry with could've handled the situation better.
Throwing things might seem to make you feel better, but it's not really a good idea to get used to the idea that you need to "explode" to make yourself feel better. An adult way to handle it is to try and calm down and think of solutions.

An easy way to not let anger get the best of you, is to not let anger enter you at all. Yes we all have things that make us tick, but being able to control those thing, and being able to ACCEPT the thing that we are not happy with, is a way to control your anger.
Just make sure not to let your anger out on people, especially the people you love.

I either go for a walk, clean house, or get up into the mountains to clear my head. My hubby's learned if I'm cleaning at midnight, to stay the hell out of my way...

a Jog or long walk works for me. Gives you time to think about things. Also hitting up the gym to pump some iron works for me
