95 I was only 3 then.
Albums:
Me Against the World
Only Built 4 Cuban Linx
The Infamous
Mr. Smith
Liquid Swords
E. 1999 Eternal
Lifestylezz ov da Poor and Dangerous

And the Best Hip Hop movie ever made (Friday) and it's soundtrack were released then.

Ant: The Fix by Scarface came out in '02 remember?
Or were you not listening to Hip Hop then? I didn't start until late '98 to early '99.

Would have to be 1995. West Coast is frontline.... actually everyone's doing it major. The Bay is hotter than ever ("I Got Five On It" & "Sprinkle Me"), Big L's debut album, so much going on. So much GREAT music being released from all regions and if I could turn back time today I would appreciate much more what was going down in rap then. Here's a list of some of the GREAT albums I'm talking about....

2Pac - "Me Against The World"
Big L - "Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous"
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - "E. 1999 Eternal"
Brotha Lynch Hung - "Season Of Da Siccness"
C-BO - "Tales From The Crypt"
Celly Cel - "Killa Kali"
D.P.G. - "Dogg Food" [Kurupt & Daz]
DJ Quik - "Safe & Sound"
Dre Dog - "I Hate You W/ A Passion"
E-40 - "In A Major Way" (also "Game Related" w/ The Click)
Erick Sermon - "Double Or Nothing"
GZA - "Liquid Swords"
Luniz - "Operation Stackola" ("I Got Five On It")
Mobb Deep - "The Infamous"
Ol' Dirty Bastard - "Return to the 36 Chambers"
Raekwon - "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx"
Richie Rich - "Half Thang"
Seagram - "Reality Check"
Spice-1 - "1990-Sick"
Too $hort - "Cocktails"
WC & Maad Circle - "Curb Servin'"
Young Cellski - "Mr. Predicter"

• Ice Cube stars in "Friday"

• On the downside Eazy-E died in '95 (R.I.P.) & the Source Awards (which was one of the best ever) turned into a national catalyst for the East vs. West feud that would cause trouble in upcoming

• Also.... Scarface's "The Diary" (released late '94) & Notorious B.I.G.'s "Ready To Die (late summer '94) would still be hot and relevant in '95, but both albums are arguably the best of their respective careers.

That's why I choose 1995.

2003. it was last time i felt good and confident about what was coming out. can never forget the feeling when "What More Can I Say" hit the Streets....shut down the entire NY area. you heard that song in all 5 boros at the same time. loud and careless...it was beautiful. never will be duplicated...never

1985 ... because that's when Mantronix released "Needle to the Groove"

No actually, seeing the FIRST HipHop DJ, Kool Herc, in 1975 ... that would be better!
