I live in a small town,(75,000 people) and tonight we are having our Christmas Parade.Couthouse lawn has a nativity scene set up and Santa will be saying Merry Christmas to the children on the parade route.Does this make you smile or does it make you want to call the ACLU?
I didn't name my town for a reason.

It could definitely be argued that this is an infringement of the amendment of the constitution ordering a seperation of church and state. It could be argued that this is an example of a local government endorsing a specific religion.
However, I think calling the ACLU would be too rash. The people that would call the ACLU fear that if they let one thing slide, it will become a domino effect and that next year the government will be establishing a national religion.
If only we lived in a world without nonsense and people who spend their lives worrying

Truthfully, it doesn't make me want to do either. Being raised catholic and going to catholic school, Christmas was first and foremost a religious holiday, that was forty five years ago, today, it's more Santa than Christ. Either way, it's fine with me, I don't subscribe to believing in Santa or organized religion. I live in a really small town, under four thousand people, you can't hit a golf ball without hitting a church, whatever people want to believe to make them feel better, fine. Either way, it's the one time of year people seem nicer and that I'm all for. Cheers.

You are correct. "Merry Christmas" SHOULDN'T be a challenge. Unfortunately, because of the pervasive attack on Christmas in this country it has become one. I'm more sick of PC every single day.

Merry Christmas!
I wouldn't consider 75,000 a small town though.

Honestly, who cares. I think that people in this country need to grow thicker skins, or else soon we'll be complaining about everything. I'm an atheist and have never gotten offended by anything religious in nature unless it was a Christian pushing their religion down my throat. Luckily for me, those types of people are few. This reminds me of that article about the store Santa's not being able to say "ho ho ho" as it might be offensive to women now (that was in Australia). Things are getting ridiculous....

This might be politically incorrect, but Merry Christmas to you and yours and have a good time at your event. God Bless.
Are you from East, North,South, or West Texas? 'Cause only in Texas will you find nativity scenes on Courthouse lawns.
