umm...
yea check out sparknotes they'll most likely have that information, but the main nsecurities Gene has are his intelligence and abilities (such as sports and tht stuff)
but you realize after finny is gone gene starts to work harder on his studies, and doesn't worry about this stuff...but later on, when he's with finny these insecurities cause him to be jealous of finny making him hurt finny in a definite way that was not supposed to happen. The instability of his academics is because it seems to gene that finny is drawing him away from his studies by holding the suicide society and bringing him to the beach and what not. there are so many things tht i could explain about this novel, but there are teh basics that should help you! hope they did! <3 =] a really moving novel i think ;]
