First, let's separate the great love hate question from the last line about yahoo answers.
Love requires two things that are becoming rare in our society. One is that you be loved as a child. As we become a less and less family and love oriented society, fewer and fewer of our kids have that love as kids. If they don't, they're done. Second, love requires people drop their tough act and take some genuine risk which is fearful. You have to acknowledge your need for love AND open yourself to it before you can have it. A lot of people don't have the guts for that anymore. So they stick an IPOD in each ear and try desperately to suck life through those small electric tubes.
That's why.
Oh, and in the absence of love, hate eventually follows.

Humans crave power.
Power = Control
Power = Money.
Control = Fear.
Religion = Fear.
Fear = Hatred.
Therefore Hatred = Power, Control, Money & Fear.
Real world example? The most powerful leaders align themselves with a popular religion and set of common values (say Catholicism and Nationalism) in order to create a common enemy who does not, or appears not to represent them. (ie Catholics and Muslims).
Fear rallies the people who support the leader, which brings power and money.
Conflicting ideals, such as leftist policy, are vilified by those values to fortify the leader's power by weakening the opposition.
That, I assume, is why Fascist regimes such as Nazi Germany were supported by inherently good citizens, blinded by fear and patroitism, and why the spread of Communism triggered the attack on Germany and the Vietnam war.

Love is much more scary than hate as it is an expression of giving without condition and control. People really don't like being out of control so they prefer the way of control which is hate as it is a conscious decision. This becomes such an ingrained part of a persons life that they eventually make it part of their mantra and their lifestyle. So much so that they lose touch of reality and start associating different of opinion as a personal attack and thus retort in the same manner.
Hope that all make sense like it did in my own head.
Good luck

Humans ARE incapable of finding "the better way." We are all sinful by nature and by choice. We can choose to try to do good, even though all of our attempts to be perfect fail miserably in the light of God's love and perfection. Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden chose to disobey God's command by eating of the forbidden tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, bringing sin, evil, and hatred into the world. Accepting God's offer of redemption through Jesus Christ can open up a whole new world of love, however, to share with others full of hatred. =)
Pick up a Bible and read it!

Hate is a flawed emotion. It causes people to wish uneccesary harm. It is especially absurd given that there is no such thing as free will.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
if someone does what you wanted you love them. if they disappoint you or fail to do as you wanted, it stimulates hate. you could not hate if you didn't want to love.
if a person, community, society does something that has no meaing, you feel neither. love and hate are two sides of the same emotion.
There are two different kinds of "hate." First, we have the irrational hate, which accomplishes nothing and is the result of ignorance. This hate is probably a product of anger and/or frustration. And on the other hand, we have the rational version of hate. When we understand something to be malicious to ourselves, or something essential to us, we tend to hate whatever that element may be. But we hate it for good reason. This hate is the product of love, and usually rational and responsible fear..
Good Question!
peace,and Love.

People in general I feel do what is easiest, it's easier to hate than is is to love, hate takes little effort and love takes more effort. It is a very sad situation and I wish people were stronger in the mind, but thats not usually the case, but I do know that hate will never be victorious over love.

Sometimes, one just doesn't want to be with people and they criticize anyone they see or know. Sometimes people fall in love and then have a dispute so then they hate each other. Sometimes, people think they're in love then something tragic happened that has to do with them and then they hate each other. Sometimes love causes hate, as in love causes marriage which is the only cause of divorce. Sometimes, people know of all the bad things that can happen when "you're in love" so they're afraid to let themselves get attracted to one another and so negativity is their way of repelling it.

In order to love others, one needs to feel loved. Unfortunately, however, most people feel unloved and are therefore incapable of loving. Hatred results from the unfulfilled desire to be loved.

think of how many different forms of hate revolve around love and you'll see why one can't survive w/o the other.
how many murders/assaults had to do with rejection,jealously,envy,cheating...
love or the lack there of by someone you thought felt the same way, drives many people to do stupid and hateful things.
sure theres many other reasons that cause hate but these are some of the most easily preventable ones and highly common.
