assume t=0 when the ball clears the net.

Since it is only horizontal
y(t)=1-.5*9.8*t^2
for the ball to just stay in
y(t)=0 when x(t)=12
solve for v
t=sqrt(2/9.8)
v=12/sqrt(2/9.8)
V=26.6 m/s
