I'm sure by now you realize what circumcision is.
However, some have stated that there is no medical reason for the procedure. FALSE, according to the National Institute of Health. Circumcision reduces the risk of contracting the HIV virus by 70% (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8473838/).
It's origins are in the Hebrew faith where circumcision was done as a covenant with God. Strangely though, when Christ came to atone for the sins of man, the practice shouldn't have carried on into Christianity- but it did.
The Epiphany (often termed 'Little Christmas') is also the date of Jesus' circumcision (interesting reason for celebrating), although it also coincides with the arrival of the Magi.
And despite what Ozzie (above) says, circumcized guys have as much sex as uncircumcized guys.

Males are born with an extention of skin that covers the end of there penis so that "Herman the German" looks more like
Tutor the tortoise." When circumsized the doctor cuts the extra shin off so there is no protective skin on the end of the penis. This is normally done right after birth and the baby is not supposed to feel it. But, he does. If a male is jewish he will not be circumsized at birth but rather at or around his bar mitzvah. This whole practice was started because doctors thought that men weren't keeping themselves clean enough back when we took a bath maybe once a week or less. NJow that we all seem tp be more clean and conscious of what germs can do there is NO MEDICAL REASON for it. It's just an outdated ritual that's sick. Circumsised men have less feeling in their penis and aren't as sexually active as uncircumsized men.

Circumcision is a procedure in which the foreskin -- the sheath of tissue covering the head of the penis -- is removed. Circumcision is usually done within days after birth. Parental consent must be obtained before the procedure is performed.
The practice has been performed since ancient times, when it was done as a religious rite or as an initiation of boys into adulthood. Most Jewish and Muslim parents throughout the world today continue to have their sons circumcised for religious and cultural reasons. In the United States overall, the practice is somewhat less common today than it was 50 years ago, but is still done almost routinely with parental consent of course. In the 1800s, it was believed that circumcision helped prevent masturbation. Any circumcised man, however, will tell you this is not true.
im asian and i just got circumsiced last year im 14 now. and it hurts a lot. bleeds alot. and hurts. after a month it will be okay. me after a month i started taking off the dry blood around the penis because it was driving me crazy

Some religions believe that circumcision is a necessary part of their faith. When a boy is born, his foreskin on the penis is cut off. Others who have this done, do it either at birth of the son, or even later in life, but do it because culturally or traditionally their own families did it, Or for cleanliness. Some others think that it is easier for a man(boy) to keep his penis clean by not having the extra skin covering up any bacteria that may be residing on the penis. It all gets down to ones belief system.
There are those who think the feeling is different with the skin, and others with the skin removed. Different strokes for different folks (no pun intended).
If it is to be done, the best time is when the baby is born; when a man is older, there are all sorts of psychological feelings entering the procedure.

Its a painful and irreversible surgery that cuts off the protective foreskin of a penis. Only around 15% of the men in the world have it done.

Here's an illustration that shows the difference:
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/imagepages/19093.htm
The one with the foreskin (how boys are born) is not circumcised (it's uncircumcised).
Otherwise, when hard (erect) they can look very much alike, since the foreskin slides down (and slides up and down during sex and masturbation to stimulate the head).
http://www.cirp.org/pages/anat/
http://net.indra.com/~shredder/intact/anatomy/index.html
Being uncircumcised is not bad like some people make it seem. Risks of circumcision include:
In a medical study, it was found that females are more likely to hit orgasm with an uncircumcised man:
http://www.healthcentral.com/drdean/408/60750.html
The lubricated foreskin (on the inside... like your eyelids) slides up and down during sex and masturbation to stimulate the head.
http://www.cirp.org/pages/anat/
Studies have found that circumcision reduces sensitivity (this article also mentions how it has lost popularity in the USA in recent times):
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,285532,00.html
And despite being more sensitive, they still last in the same six minute range (average) that circumcised guys do:
http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1743-6109.2005.00070.x
Makes masturbation more difficult:
http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1464-410X.2006.06646.x
Which makes sense, that's how it was made popular in the USA:
http://english.pravda.ru/science/health/27-03-2006/77873-circumcision-0
Increases erectile dysfunction rates:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=14979200&dopt=Abstract%7C
If too much skin is removed, it can make the penis smaller since the penis needs some skin to expand during an erection:
http://drgreene.org/body.cfm?id=21&action=detail&ref=1125
http://www.altermd.com/Penis%20and%20Scrotal%20Surgery/buried_penis.htm
The USA is the last developed nation doing circumcision on a significant scale without medical or religious reasons. That means Europe and Japan (and Latin America and China, for that matter) don't circumcise. Circumcision rates in Australia and Canada are low, and in Africa... it varies by nation/tribe. Here's a worldwide map that gives you a general idea of where circumcision is common:
http://www.circumstitions.com/Maps.html
In the United States, circumcision rates vary by state, race... and other factors, like the year you were born. For the most part, the West Coast has the lowest circumcision rates, with some states as low as 14% now. Compare that to national circumcision rates being around 90% back in the 1960s and 70s. US data:
http://www.cirp.org/library/statistics/USA/staterates2004/
In other words, circumcision has become less common especially now that you can research it online.

a boy is born with extra skin that covers his penis some people believe it is better to remove it for religious reasons or because of infection reason. So a doctor will cut that extra skin off so that the head of the penis is not longer covered by the skin and less likly to get an infection.
