I am sorry you can't buy the things your kids want.. my heart goes out to you. Try going to http://www.craigslist.org and maybe you can find a used laptop in your area. You can also try going to http://www.swaptreasures.com/ where you can swap things.. do you have anything you can sell or trade.. something that the kids are not using anymore.. like cribs or used toys? Try reminding your kids what Christmas is all about, the love and spending time with family, not the gifts. I know that is easier said than done though when a kid is 12 years old. I wish I could help but I am on a tight budget this year too because I'm on maternity leave for a year and we're on one income. Good luck to you and Merry Christmas.

Well, if you are living paycheck to paycheck... your girl may have to understand that she will have to wait for a laptop.

Keep your eyes and ears open!! Listen to local radio stations or pay attention to news channels... sometimes they help families with Christmas.

Another idea, if there is a church you are attending in your new hometown, talk to your bishop, priest or pastor for a little bit of help.

Your kids may not get exactly what they want, but I have no doubt that people will help you get what you need.

Best wishes!

Our schools collect toys for the needy children that attend, It is the studentcouncil that do it at our local school. You may try the schools or check with local churches, they should help. Also they sure give out food also!! I will be praying for ya'll!
