Here are the main symptoms. The person is

1. Glib and manipulative.

2. Often is superficially charming.

3. Lies a lot. Never accepts being at fault.

4. Has a history of many failed short-term relationships.

5. Easily bored, seeks constant stimulation.

6. Parasitic life-style--tends to live off of others.

7. Impulsive, irresponsible.

8. Probable history of juvenile and adult crimes, though may conceal them.

9. Easily cons others, with no guilt.

They are very deceptive. They may seem charming and agreeable when first met, and make a good first impression. Once you are around them more you get an uneasy feeling that they are not at all what they seem.

I would say-

Quick to analyse others.

Manipulative possibly.

Violent both emotionally and physically.

I think these terms get bandied about all over the place. What is normal as well? I think a bit of isolation sometimes doesn't do anyone any harm. Especially if the world genuinely is out to get you.

I would say an overt sense of responsibility ala Harold Shipman would reflect a psychopath as well. Oh he was a doctor who killed very old ladies. Erm over 50 I think, which is awful.

I think a willingness to harm physically and emotionally another human being would be my definition.
Having an absence of emotion if your dominant feeling should be hate maybe isn't a problem

Also I would ask the obvious question- what is a psychopath?

Not to cop out on an answer.. but a LOT and very hard to actually diagnose as such.... well maybe not hard.. but easy to misdiagnose by the general public I should say.

If you think you know a psychopath.. you are probably just paranoid or trying to over diagnose someone with a smaller social/emotional problem.
