Personally, I do NOT think it is true. It doesn't even look like someone hanging... Hope this helps

I have seen all the videos of the hanging in the Wizard of Oz. To me it looks like a prop man with a light to help the filming of the scene. Take a look at it and you will a bright light. I give my credit to the guy for hanging upside down to provide the light needed for the shot.

There is something hanging behind one of the scenes during the film but it is an urban legend that it is actually a munchkin hanging himself.

In my film class we were told that the story is one of the actors that auditioned for the part hung themselves when they didn't get it. Come to find out it was actually and Osterich that had roamed away from the front of the shot. You can actually Google Wizard of Oz and there is a whole write up about it in an old magazine.

Well i dint really think it is true but i was on a website and i seen a picture of a hanging munchkin.

no it's utter bull crap! Though if you turn the sound off and put on a pink floyd album... darkside of the moon they sync up spookily well....

no. it's a large bird spreading it's wings. unusual animals were brought on set to make it look more authentic.
