Don't you just love it when they say such and such number of dead for the month of so and so. Or how many have died since the start of the war.
Wait backup- what about the numbers of soldiers that come back wounded. missing arm, legs, head and brain injuries etal. Nope no mention of those poor guys. Don't want the public to get wind of that information. The medics on the front are saving more and more soldiers over there, due to better medical procedures. A lot of those soldiers would have died before. Now they are saved, but have to live with all the injuries of the war. Sometimes I wonder which is best. The family's back home then have to live with those injuries, sometimes for the rest of their lives. This also causes problems finding work and being able to support their family's.

Oh of course. And it's even worse when I hear of those who've come home to be buried. I feel it's such a waste of
life. We've had on the news that Oregon is gearing up for
a huge deployment in '09. They will call up 1,300 soldiers
from around the state. This will be their second deployment
and the largest. They will start training soon for tactical train-
ing, the news said. I didn't realize that they issued deployments so far in advanced. This deployment will be
under another president I believe. I assumed that the same
president would have to be in office and that he couldn't
order something like this if he wasn't going to be president
at the time. So I'm not only sick, but confused.

No, I just get a little sick after I realize that I missed the boat again. I wanted to at least give a big wave off to them this time around. Invasion is such a strange thing. It's like the last supper that has additional seating in the next room. Some people never make it to the front of the pack where the photographers are waiting to make them famous. I'd never make it as a real soldier, that much I know. I commend those that do. It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it. It has honor that is beyond words.

I get a bad feeling everytime I hear that more troops are deploying. I live in "Military City USA" and about 150 miles from one of our countries Army bases.

I just wish that everyone was as concerned about our troops when I deployed to Vietnam nearly 40 years ago but times have changed.

Yes I do.

I spent a life time dealing with deployments. Our Solders are well trained and well outfitted and will do what they have to do. God willing, they will persevere and, all come home with their body parts intact. Mainly, due to my job, I was concerned with the family's left behind, and how they would manage. A lot of the Spouses are very young and are away from their family's also.

I remember my crew and I, setting up ballrooms with camouflaged nets, tents, cots, all the gear our folks in uniform had (no guns tho)... we had tables filled with field rations so the kids could come in and try it out, eat the same meal as their parent! On the netting, we had the kids cut out the imprint of their hand in bright construction paper. Then, they would put their father or mothers name on it with the date they deployed! All attached to the netting with yellow ribbons! Ya, just have to try to do something positive with all this!

I was informed that this had never been done before and it was unlikely I would be allowed everything I was asking for to complete my mission! HA.... Sometimes... all you have to do is ask!

PLEASE, TRY TO MAKE IT RIGHT FOR THE FAMILY MEMBERS AS WELL, AND, INCLUDE THEM IN YOUR PRAYERS!

Yes I do. The son of my best friend was deployed for his second tour just last month. He is so young and I have heard some of his stories from his tour in Afghanistan. It is so sad what these young men and women are going through. God bless them all and bring them home soon.

My heart sink, as more Australians leave. And it must be far worse in the States.I watch the delayed broadcast of the Jim Leher show, and when those photographs come up, in silence, of the American soldiers killed in action, it just makes me so sad, and I can't explain, a sort of pain, in my heart.

I hate to see these lovely brave men come back with no limbs and other terrible injuries, which will change their lives and the lives their loved ones forever. For a war, based on an outright lie! And they did it for their country, which they love. Bring them all back now.

When the locals deployed around here I was very sad and upset that it has to happen this way. IMO they should all come home now.

I do. After being a military wife for so many years it doesn't get easier. I also live by a base and ours are sure to be quick to tell you they're coming home but don't mention how many are leaving. You may hear about the big deployments but monthly there are individuals leaving for overseas. They keep so many things quiet, it's maddening.

Yes I do, I live near the AFB and can hear them leaving. So gut wrenching to see young men so broken by this war, just about kills me to think what is happening to them and how this will affect their future. We recently had a 19 year old returned to us with no legs, a head injury and is a new dad too. My heart really breaks for all of our soldiers and I thank them everyday for what they are doing for us.
