I was wondering if any of you darling yahoo answers fanatics could help me with the following problems I have!

First:
I need a good monologue to work with. I know all of the google monologue sites but if anyone has a good monologue that they used or one in particular that is good I'd love to look at it!

Second:
In the spring I am auditioning for my school's production of Bye Bye Birdie. I've always wanted to play Kim and so if any one has an tips for a song choice that would be awesome! I am a soprano in my choir but can sing alto music as well! Any suggestions would be great!

Thirdly:
I have a very tough decision to make in two months about whether I would rather pursue theater or squash (the sport of course not the vegetable) I am a fairly good squash player but a better actress. But my singing is not as good as my squash game although I'm not bad just a little unconfident. Any opinions? Advice?

THANKS SO MUCH TO YOU ALL!

If you know all the good monologue sites and haven't found anything that you like, my best advice is to read plays and find material you like within. Personally I think you need to find something you connect with, not somthing someone else connects with.

Audition song for Kim:
Much More - The Fantastics
Sixteen Going on Seventeen - Sound of Music
Matchmaker - Fiddler on the Roof
Look To The Rainbow - Finian's Rainbow
The Trolley Song - Meet Me In St. Louis
Kindred Spirits - Anne of Green Gables
I Could Have Danced All Night – My Fair Lady
When I Marry Mr. Snow – Carousel
Freddy My Love - Grease
Mama, I’m A Big Girl Now – Hairspray

As for Squash VS Theatre - Why can't you do both? Squash would possibly be more beneficial to your college and scholarship applications but if theatre is something you love then why give it up? Is squash really that demanding? Practice makes perfect in both worlds, you just have to decide if you can keep up your school work and practice both. I'm sure squash has a season, no? Maybe you can do community theatre when squash is not in season and vice versa. However, you still need to commit to singing every day. Record some vocal warm ups with your voice teacher and do them daily and practice your audition repertoire so you don't lose it. Take a dance class, it will help your squash game... keeps you on your toes and helps with coordination.

good luck,
Marianne
