quicker than a person with strong religious beliefs. The religion thing blinds people to what is the issues that the people in this country want taken care of. Religion has no place in the care of the country. We have seen in the past that so many have been or claimed to be Christians and yet caused us to go to war or allowed bills to be passed that were not God like. I find that what they say before office and what they do after is a totally different matter.
an Atheist would not feel pressured to make decisions based on a fear of God and yet he or she could be very moral. They could make these decisions based on what the people needed and facts.

Seeing as we have a separation of church and state, I don't think that a candidates religious background has anything to do with their campaign. I would definitely prefer an atheist over an extremist Christian who would try to take away women's rights and oppose people in love from reaping the economic benefits of marriage.

No I wouldn't. It isn't likely that such a person would see the world anywhere close to the way I do, so I'm pretty sure their stand on moral and political issues would be at odds with mine. It wouldn't be strictly a religious choice, but I just can't imagine such a person having the right policies and views.

I wouldn't vote for a Christian candidate JUST because he said he was Christian either. Bill & Hillary are prime examples of someone claiming a religious faith but not demonstrating the proper moral fiber to be wise leaders. The personal faith issue would be one of many I would look at in determining which candidate to support.

Seeing as religion should have absolutely no bearing on the political world, I would do so as long as I agree with what the politician wants to do.

Absolutely, but I'm biased because I'm an atheist myself. I want my politicians to come up with their own ideas on morality and have policies driven by logic. Talk about seperation of church and state!

God NO. After I've Seen those "God fearing" presidents do what they do. I'm afraid to even think what a president who doesn't fear a "higher power" would do.

Why not? If that candidate is qualified and has the abililty. Besides, is religion one of the criteria to become a president?

I'd vote for a gay, atheist, janitor if they would bring back our government under the Constitution.
