I have to write an essay on this paper. Ive alread written a little bit but I was wondering if anyone else had some input I could add to the paper.

that story centers tradition and the controversies surrounding it.
Like, for example, the "tradition" of say "Under God with Liberty &..." ect. In the pledge even though some people do not believe in God & religion has turned into a large controversy.
The fact that the surrounding cities have stopped participating in the lottery is a symbol in of it's self.
The entire story the "lottery" symbolizes tradition and the human's reluctance to relenquish their normal traditional phases of life.

Loved the Lottery and The Ones Who walk Away from Omelas by Le Guin. You can also talk about comformity, the principle of utility (the notion that "good" is what brings the greatest happiness to the greatest number of people) its ethical application: why it works, why it's flawed, etc. Good luck.

I like what you have covered so far, it seems to me like you have a good essay going.
My only additional thought was the futility of running... death gets to us all eventually.
I guess we all run in a way, though-- oh boy, don't get me started! I'll leave you to it; you're doing a fine job.
